Who has the crystal ball?

Motorcycle Sales

Seems like yesterday, TV ads touting 7 and 8 year term loans with 1% interest rates for new cars. Those ads were replaced with apologetic ads saying new car inventory will get better soon. Car buyers report dealers marking up their sparse units by $3-5,000 and manufacturers threaten their retailers for price gouging. Shoppers come in and ask if we’re adding to the price of our inventory. The answer is no..never have..and never will.

Tracking interest rates for a couple of months seems to indicate a trend.Posted BMWFS top tier financing for new BMW’s hit 5.59& for February while January was 5.19; December 2021 was 4.99 as was November; October was 4.79

For credit buyers, a few models have incentive interest rates. I’ll only identify those we have in stock:
2021 G310R 1.9%
2021 S1000RR 1.9%
2021 R18 First Edition/Classic 1.9% plus cash incentives

Inventory is scarce. For the very first time, we have no new GS of any size on the floor and the few we are expecting are pre sold to very patient buyers.

The used or “previously owned” market is a wild west show. Newly acquired 3-5 year old bikes are selling privately for same or close to price of new models. We have a single used bike – 09 1200GSAdventure we sold new with everything including GPS and all 3 aluminum cases.

Brand new with full warranty: 2019 S1000XR and 2020 F900XR 2018 R1200RS and lastly 2018 S1000R. are still seeking new homes.

We have previously alerted you as to availability of batteries and tires. For Heideneau lovers, they have reduced production of many sizes and models to be able to produce the most popular. Common BMW batteries are back ordered until April. When desperation sets in, we take an old battery to a distributor and match case sizes. 1/4” can mean the difference between fitting and working and not. Tires can be found on line but when arrive may have 10 year old dates. Speaking of tires, watch your tire pressure. We currently recommend 36/42psi. A bike came i this week with 81 psi front and rear!!

Chips – micro specifically – problems not going away soon. Fewer options are available or not at all on some models. BMW and Bosch announced a joint venture to build a manufacturing facility to ease the supply problems but we know that won’t happen overnight. All the features which make our BMW’s the safest, most reliable and economical rely on electronics and chips to do their magic.

How fortunate we are here in the West with our riding season. With bomb cyclones; feet of snow and ice, we are basking in 90 degree weather in February. All that natural Vitamin D we get from the sun should help keep those omicrons away.

Enjoy the Ride, take in fresh air and sun, keep the wheels going and live.

As always, we are grateful for your loyalty and support, your gang at West Valley Cycle Sales.
