If you ever had a thought about looking for a new ride or to try something different, NOW IS THE TIME!
BMW Incentive offers for 21/22 R18’s expire at the end of August.
0.9% financing goes away!
(today’s current rates are hovering above 7.6%); other incentives like 6 months free payments, customer cash, etc disappear Aug 31st. Even our jewel-tones R18 First Editions are good for these specials. But with the FedRate increases, who knows where they will be this time next moth.
The late 2022 models, including an additional allocation of 1250GS’s and early 2023’s are beginning to arrive. Not all incoming bikes may be equipped as you may have wanted but are brand new and will keep you happy and safe for many years. A low suspension GSA is incoming as well as an 850GSA; still watching for the 750GS which seems to be stuck in New Jersey. Don’t count on the once “gold standard” title of “Premium Package” to include all options. Some options once listed in PP are now found on the bikes under other categories but still there. It’s best to know what is important to you and search for those, and it’s not difficult.
Tires are becoming a little easier to come by, now down to usually less than a week, much better than 3-4 weeks. Batteries can be another story, some sizes are still back ordered for 2 months out but we’ll try and find a battery that will work.
Apparel and accessories still back-ordered; looking for September/October before these promised items arrive.
As this is written, the Annual Sturgess Rally is underway and BMW’s DEMO truck is filled to capacity with prospective new riders. We will really miss the passing of the Progressive International Motorcycle Show aka The Long Beach Motorcycle Show. After trying to keep the traveling roadshow alive after Covid, they decided an outdoor venue just working so the show put the side stand down permanently earlier this year. The Long Beach Show had really become a tradition for many years bringing riders, fans, OEM’s, accessory vendors all together for a few days.
Bagger v Bagger
For those who know the difference as well as those not sure…
What actually is a Bagger?
Riders whose preference is to get low down and become part of the action, tend to ride sport bikes; those who desire to sit upright and occasionally stand on the pegs like stirrups on a horse are likely to ride a dual sport or GS. Going on a long trip and desiring most of the comforts of home will find the RT/Touring bikes their choice.
Those who want to just sit back, maybe put their feet up and watch the world go by are cruisers.
We have 2 cruisers to compare right now.
The 6 cylinder K1600 GT, Bagger or Grand America. After riding a bagger, the hardest thing is getting the grin off your face. The 1600GT has a little sportier feel in riding position, the Bagger and Grand America have a lower rear end; both respond to the passengers wishes as well as the rider. New 1600’s come with large 10.25 touch screens, auto load leveling and all the bells and whistles you could want on a cruiser.
The R1800 Bagger and Transcontinental take you and a passenger on the trip of a lifetime with Marshall Sound Systems, Reverse gear along with the total exhilarating feel of a boxer, perfectly balanced, a masterful piece of engineering. Built in phone docks with USB chargers and their own fans. Your phone is controlled by the “magic wheel”, no GPS – BMW Connected Drive screen is huge at 10.25”.
Will likely have a Bagger test ride day next month for those who want to explore these two Baggers.
Meanwhile, seems like yesterday but it’s been 7 years ago this month since Carl Reese left here at 3:15am on his ride to New York…arriving 38 hours and 49 minutes later.
