January 2022 Newsletter

Several years ago we adopted A Charlie Brown Christmas as our holiday theme. The “gang” members can be spotted around the shop and parking lot. Woodstock and Snoopy dance and Vince Guaraldi’s theme fills the showroom from many corners. Time to pack up the “Peanuts gang” until next year and get back to business.

In spite of it all, we had a pretty good year, never knowing whether we would be fully open, partially open and up to date with the daily “regulations/orders” from various agencies and public health authorities. 2022, at just a week old, has proved more regulations, policies and safeguards have exploded…tests, no tests, flu or covid..more masking with different masks – not available.

The sun is out, the rain has stopped for a while and it’s time to get serious. Batteries and tires are still hard to find. While many sources for batteries have recently surfaced, fitment is a totally different issue. We have found that a new 1/4” plastic ‘skid’ added to the bottom of some sizes actually prevent proper connection. Remember… those who have changed to lithium batteries…they don’t like the cold and may act up. If using a tender, make sure it is compatible with lithium.

Tires.. when seeking replacement tires, remember it is best to keep them a matched set (same brand and model). Keep an alternate set in mind if what you are seeking isn’t available or weeks/months away. China has just quarantined/locked down another major city home to the world’s 3rd largest shipping port…

Distribution and delivery charges have skyrocketed – a 30% increase is common. As of January 1st new bikes have destination charges ranging from $495 to $795 depending on size.

On the plus side, the popular G310R and GS and C400GTs will see MSRP price reductions from $50 to $250 for MY 22.

Original 2021 R18 First Edition and Classics have special price incentives for this 1st quarter 2022 along with 0.9% financing thru BMW Financial Services and an offer for Financial Services to make the first 6 payments up to $2000 total, in addition to $3000 Customer Cash. MSRP on the 21 R18 First Edition is $14,995 while the 21 R18 Classic is $15,995 plus D&H, T&L.

On the way in…2022 R1250RT Triple Black to be followed in about a month R1250RT in Alpine White – both fully loaded with some relief seen in microchip shortage. As of January production, audio systems will be available as well as active cruise control. All 1250 variants will no longer be offered with chrome exhaust option and will instead have chrome headers and design option silencers with no change in pricing.

The used bike market is still crazy with high prices. We have a couple available and a couple of new orphans as we call them. Used include a 07 1200 GSA with EVERYTHING including extra lights, a real horn and all 3 BMW Aluminum ADV cases – everything; this bike has been pictured at the Arctic Circle; one owner and priced to sell at $8000; current registration til June ’22. A ’15 K1600GT – blue with very low mileage, formerly Jay’s bike and perfect condition – call for price. The orphans (new on the floor before we shut down) and now are brand new ’18/19’s. They include S1000XR, R1200RS and S1000R. All will have full warranty – 3 yr/36,000 mile and a better deal than used. Call for details on each …colors, packages and test rides.

Jay’s custom R18 Bagger is nearing completion and will be a stunner…drop by and see our one off changes!

Get out and enjoy the ride while we have a brief respite in weather; drop by and say hi. We truly miss seeing so many of you. Stay safe…
